Something many people don't realize is that all these Ebooks are not bought but borrowed. I had more than 100 books that I bought over 10 years on my Kindle. Online, "Buy" was the button I pushed. but this is false advertising because you just borrow them. When I stopped my Amazon account my entire library on my Kindle was eliminated and definitively. This is not evident when stopping your Amazon account, they say all their services will be stopped but they don't say that all the books you bought would disappear.
I just purchased a Kindle Paperwhite SE and it was honestly the best purchase I’ve made in a long time!!! 🤩👏 I feel the extra money is worth it if you have the funds available to make the purchase 💪
I do find it funny that Barns and Noble who specialize mostly in books has less ebooks then Amazon. 😅
(And yes I know that Amazon started out as a book seller as well)
I’ve been using a Nook device for over 10 years now and i love it. I do have the most basic form of a kindle just to access Kindle Unlimited or to get access to certain books not available from B&N, but i still prefer the Nook. I think I’m just used to the home button and I really can’t not have that, even though I own Apple everything else and prefer no home button on anything else – it’s easier to have on an e-reader. I also have been collecting ebooks for over a decade so i have so many more ebooks for me personally on there. For Kindle, I only prefer the highlighting feature and the ease of putting a Libby loan on there, but that’s all really.
I like Nook's shelf feature a lot! Much prefer it over the collections on Kindle which is more annoying to use. I also like the buttons to change pages. I actually use both Nook and Kindle for different reasons.
KOBO, Onyx, Remarkable are also good products. it's hard to choose

I really like Nook hardware and the UI. I really wish they would update their software and stop partitioning the memory for sideloaded content.
7:03 You can use a program like Calibre to manage the Kindle epub weirdness. It gives you options to convert file types, and it even has a workaround for the missing cover thing. If you hook up your Kindle to your PC, it allows you to transfer the books to the device directly.

The Nook ecosystem really seems like it’s a decade behind Kindle and Kobo in terms of hardware, user interface, and book availability.
One thing I like about Kindle is voice narration, if you buy both the ebook a d audiobook
I actually just switched to a Kindle from a Nook recently and I love the kindle. I was starting to be overwhelmed with the issues from my nook, I did have an older version of the glow light.

It’s not that I prefer using a Nook, but that I have a third of my manga collection in Nook Book format that I don’t have on Kindle or Kobo (sometimes, they’re not sold on Kindle and Kobo!). This is about 500 graphic novels 📚📚📚🧐🤔
The Nook device itself I do prefer over all Kindles, except the Oasis or the older Kindles with buttons. I like the page-turning buttons on both sides, the small size, and the large bezel (in order to avoid accidentally touching the screen).
The major downside to the Nook is that you cannot extract Nook Books out of the Barnes & Noble ecosystem. If B&N were to go outta business, I could potentially lose a third of my manga collection 📚📚📚🧐🤔
I love my Kindle Paperwhite signature. I have so many books on the Kindle though, even if B&N released the best eReader in the world, my library is on Kindle and it's too big to move away from. Vendor lock-in really is a good business model 😉
I have never had a Nook, but from everthing I find out about them, I wonder how B&N sells any? Not when there are other options out there.
You can get the ads removed for free by contacting support and asking nicely if they will do it. Also, you avoid the button problem by using a case with a magnetic activation. Turning on or waking the kindle is not an issue with a case. The other advantage of the kindle is to be able to send files to kindle using the send to kindle apps and email. It seems that the nook doesn't have that. The only time I have to connect my kindle to the computer is to do a manual update.
I didn't realize it was possible to have the current book cover displayed on a Kindle!
Does Nook have anything that’s equivalent to Kindle Unlimited?
No. The nook is not better than the kindle. I speak from experience. The only thing i liked about the nook was the Barnes and Noble Classic series. The customer service was infuriating.
Apparently “thousands of books” equates to 350 books with more than half archived. If you think the nook is better, wait til you try to use Libby by Overdrive on it.

You know this sounds strange I realize, but I really enjoy the advertisements. Now I don't know if you ever mentioned it but the nook used to have when you first opened it before they upgraded the software, it used to have good quotes about reading and things like that. I love that I wish they hadn't took that off. Don't guess you know of any way to get that back do you
I used Nook and have 286 of their e-books. I switched to Kindle years ago mainly because I was fearful that Barnes and Noble was going to close and I would lose all my e-books. Since then Kindle has really pulled ahead in terms of hardware and software. I wish I could support Barnes and Noble, I don't like monopolies, but I'm too afraid of losing an entire library and the Kindle experience is simply better.
