  • Honestly I think almost all of these projects are interesting. I hope they are all good and ngl Spider-Noir looks really nice, I'm a sucker for the black and white noir style in comics. Got good hopes for that one

  • This lineup of 2026 Marvel projects — from Avengers: Doomsday to Daredevil: Born Again, Wonder Man, and X-Men '97 — shows how expansive the Marvel universe continues to be under Marvel Studios and Disney.

With all these superhero and sci-fi stories, I would love to mention a historic inspiration from Asia:

Astro Boy (= Astro Boy Atom = Wuju Sonyun Atom [우주 소년 아톰] = Atom = Mighty Atom = Iron Arm = Iron Arm Atom = Cheolwan Atom [철완 아톰] = Tetsuwan Atomu [鉄腕アトム] = Atomu [アトム])

Created by Osamu Tezuka — often called “the Walt Disney of Asia” — this groundbreaking series was:
    • Asia’s first long-form comic (1952)
    • Asia’s first long-running TV animation (1963)

Astro Boy is essentially one of the world’s earliest and most iconic space/science/futuristic fairy-tale animations — even more traditionally rooted in that genre than Disney’s Big Hero 6.

Like Big Hero 6, it explores coexistence between humans and robots.
However, Astro Boy goes deeper into ethical and moral dilemmas surrounding artificial intelligence, discrimination, war, and humanity’s responsibility toward its creations.

Although Tezuka’s copyright is expected to last until around 2059 (70 years after his passing in 1989), distribution collaboration is still possible. For example, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, produced by Zag and Mediawan / Method Animation, continues to air on Disney platforms despite not being originally owned by Disney.

With the upcoming Astro Boy 3D reboot (co-produced by Mediawan/Method, Shibuya, and Tezuka Productions) reportedly planned for 2027, I sincerely hope it could also stream on Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney+ worldwide.

Disney+ has already streamed Tezuka’s Phoenix: Eden17, so perhaps Astro Boy could become part of the broader Marvel-Disney sci-fi legacy in the future.
