Just some analysis…
0:00 This is definitely the dance where Dina and Ellie have their first kiss. Since the 2nd game is going to be broken up into multiple seasons and this scene doesn't happen until very late in the game, I'm surprised it's here. Will they be telling the story chronologically this time or closer to it?
0:02 This looks like the scene from the prologue, but Tommy has been replaced by Catherine O'Hara's mystery character. Some have speculated that she might be his therapist, but I doubt she is. Joel doesn't seem like the type to open up to a stranger, and if he's going to die early in the series (which he probably will if it follows closely to the games), it leaves her character without much screen time or importance.
Additional note: we see Ellie's tattoo here, and it looks f*cking AWESOME.
0:09 This scene doesn't appear to match any from the game. The character's hand on Ellie's shoulder looks like Maria's, and she(?) appears to be comforting Ellie while she's on a hospital bed. I wonder if this is maybe this is her physical recovery after Joel's death? But she looks more emotionally pained than physically injured, the blood and cuts on her face from getting held down and knocked unconscious completely absent, so maybe this is a completely new scene.
0:10 It's the hoard!!! The wall around Jackson and the blizzard look super accurate to the game. I remember a photo being released during shooting of the location Ellie and Dina go on patrol lacking the wintery weather, so I wonder if they'll be breaking up the events of that day into multiple.
0:11 And Tommy with his sniper rifle 😀 I'm not sure, but it looks like he's defending Jackson from one of the towers near its walls. This is different from the game, where he's out on patrol with Joel, and begs the question: where is Joel? And how will he get captured by Abby?
0:12 The return of the Seraphites, and damn, do they look cool. This looks straight out of the scene where Abby meets Lev and Yara, rather than one of the fight scenes between them and Ellie, which happen during the day. Again, since the 2nd game will be told over the course of multiple seasons, I wonder in what order the show will be told.
0:12 1/2 Isabella Merced looks stunning as Dina. She looks particularly upset in this scene, so I think this might be her in the theater. It could also be a new version of the scene where she thinks Ellie has been infected since she doesn't yet know Ellie is immune. Obviously this scene will have to be done in a different way since the infection no longer transfers through spores.
0:13 Ellie looks badass. Maybe this is in the subway, maybe somewhere else? Either way, I'm glad we're getting more action scenes!
0:14 The mountains look super pretty. The cliffs will be a phenomenal way to highlight Abby's fear of heights, similar to the game.
0:15 I REALLY hope we get to see more of Isaac. He's such an interesting character and had so much untapped potential for villainy in the game. It looks like he's pointing a gun at someone in a kitchen (from the pots and pans behind him), which is different from the torture cells we see in the game. I'm really hoping this is a hint that he'll get more important of a role.
0:15 1/2 I think this is the only glimpse of Abby we get. The scene looks straight out of the game, AKA, outstanding. Some people have taken this to mean Abby won't have as much screen time, but I doubt it. It makes sense to hint at her for the gamers but not focus on her too much (and hence focus more on Joel and Ellie) since the fan base has come to include so many non-gamers who aren't familiar with her.
0:16 Joel and Tommy? Ellie and Dina? Very hard to tell, but it does look like it happens in the series-equivalent first section of the game.
0:17 The red lighting is so cool! Definitely from the subway scene. Looks like we'll get a fight sequence down there too.
